Skittles, Life Savers, Starburst gummies recalled because they may contain metal

STATEN ISLAND, NY — Several gummy candies from Mars Wrigley Confectionery are being recalled due to the potential presence of a very thin metal strand embedded in the gummies or loose in the bag, according to a recall notice posted by the US Food and Drug Administration ( FDA).

Specific varieties of Skittles Gummies, Starburst Gummies and Life Savers Gummies are being recalled after there were reports from consumers about the possible metal. There are no illnesses reported to date, according to the recall notice.

Products were manufactured by a third party and distributed in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The 10-digit manufacturing codes are on the FDA’s website at www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts.

Mars Wrigley Confectionery is working with retailers to remove recalled products from store shelves.

If consumers believe they have purchased a recalled item, they should dispose of the product and not consume it, the FDA stated.
